I remember the day well, I was at Coles Brallie getting some groceries, my shopping basket was full and it was heavy I
went to the checkout closest to me , even though the line was the longest , I put the basket down on the around and I reach
for the magazine stand, (I like looking though the magazines while I wait in line) but something caught my eye, I glanced
up at the notice board , something I never look at, and there it was a notice for a personal carer, NOT MANY HOURS it said
, FLEXIBLE ENTHUSIASTIC , it said , my heart skipped a few beats I instantly new this was for me , when I paid for my shopping
I asked the girl for a pen and eagerly wrote down the number to get in contact with this man , Once I got home I didn't even
put my shopping away I went straight to the phone and dialed the number, I spoke to a lady named Carol , she seemed nice and
asked me if I had a mobile phone and msn , I was excited when I told her I had BOTH !!!! She said she would pass on my mobile
number to this man named Carlo and that I would probably hear from him soon ,after I had finished speaking with Carol I placed
my phone where I knew I could hear it , I didn't want to miss my text message !!!! I felt excited and nervous it had been
a while since I had applied for a job and I had know idea what this Carlo guy was like. I was cooking dinner my phone started
to beep I had a new message this was it I thought , I read it ,it didn't say much just something like "my name is Carlo
are you interested in the job this is my number " I text him back straight away , my phone had not much credit on it
but we arranged to chat on msn the next day .It was 2am the next afternoon my heart was racing I got on line and waited, then
it came up Carlo conversation HI it said "hi carlo its Emma " I replied then I said let me tell you a bit about
myself ,and that's where our friendship began, we arranged to meet the next day, it was all happening so fast .The next morning
came around , I took my dog for a walk and tried to plan what I would say , I way so nervous , I came home had a shower and
drove to Carlos house .I knocked on the door my heart felt like it was about to beat out of my chest , I could hear a dog
barking, Giovanna ( Carlos mum answered the door ) she seemed nice and then we met , my heart slowed down and I instantly
felt calm ,Giovanna pulled up a chair for me so I could sit next to Carlo and we had a good chat ,it was weird but I felt
like we had known eachother all our lives , and that's how we began, since then Carlo and I have been together nearly every
day. We have had many laughs on our trips out to lunch , we joke that Carlo has Drama after Drama but together we sort them
out ,there have been time where I have been very frustrated that people treat Carlo as if he doesn't know anything or that
he is stupid , but I have learnt from him that people like that are just ignorant and they are the ones missing out !.In the
7 months that I have worked with Carlo and the reason I use the term (WITH instead of FOR is because Carlo and I are a team)
I have learnt that you can find your best friend when you are least expecting it and learn some valuable life skills along
the way and also have a great deal fun and laughs .
